Hi, I’m MJ and welcome to my website!

I can’t believe I’m actually writing that!

​

Had you told me a year ago that I would have a website and be writing a blog I would have laughed at the very idea! (And probably made a mental note to look up exactly what a blog was, social media simpleton that I was back then).

​

Fast forward a year and here I am, sixty-two and publishing my first book! How exciting is that! And what a wonderful world it is that I live in that enables me to pursue my dreams at my age.

 

My husband tells me sixty is the new forty, so I have years of writing in front of me.  What a marvellous thought!

I’ve been a massive reader all my life. Loving the feeling of losing myself to another world. I always wanted to write, but never had the confidence to pursue it. I doubted that anyone would want to read something I wrote, let alone like it. Stories have piled up in my head like wood against a dam wall.

​

Then one day at the ripe old age of fifty-eight, I opened a blank page on my laptop and the dam wall broke, and the stories poured out. I suppose that’s the beauty of growing older – you feel less constrained by what people think of you, and less of a need to measure yourself against their lives and their successes – at least it has been that way for me.

​

Now I’m published! The realisation of a dream that I never dared to voice in my younger years. Woohoo!

 

Growing old is definitely a gift! x
